Civilization as an Organism

Updated: Sep 28, 2024

At BLANK Atom, we envision civilization as an organism.

Each individual is a stem cell (BLANK) within this organism.

Information and Resources are the Atoms creating each BLANK

KeyPoint: organizing humanity in the reflection of human nature (us reflecting inwards and outwards)

The intricate architecture of the human body has long been a source of inspiration and a model of efficiency. Each organ system within the body plays a vital role, working in concert to sustain life and maintain balance. Remarkably, this same framework may be superimposed onto our understanding of modern human civilization.

The most commonly used system for stock taxonomy is the Global Industry Classification System or GICS. Created in 1999, by investment providers MSCI and S&P Dow Jones Indices, GICS divides publicly-traded companies into 11 sectors: Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Financials, Energy, Health Care, Industrials, Information Technology, Materials, Real Estate, Telecommunication Services and Utilities. The 11 GICS sectors are further broken down into 24 industry groups, 68 industries and 157 sub-industries.

Coincidentally, the human body is composed of 11 organ systems and hundreds of tissue subtypes.

KeyPoint: each individual cell (market participant) is a certain type of cell (creator) in one of these organ systems (sectors) as either a well-differentiated cell or stem cell.

Sectors & Systems

1. Technology - Nervous System: Just as the nervous system coordinates and transmits signals throughout the body, the technology sector drives communication and data transfer across various industries, enabling seamless information flow and decision-making.

2. Health Care - Immune System: Similar to the immune system's role in protecting the body from diseases and maintaining overall health, the health care sector focuses on safeguarding individuals' well-being by providing medical services, therapies, and treatments.

3. Financials - Circulatory System: Analogous to how the circulatory system facilitates the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body, the financial sector ensures the flow of capital, investments, and resources within the economy, supporting growth and stability.

4. Real Estate - Integumentary System: Just as the integumentary system acts as a protective barrier for the body, the real estate sector encompasses properties and structures that provide shelter and protection, contributing to the overall framework of the economy.

5. Energy - Respiratory System: Similar to how the respiratory system enables the intake of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide for bodily functions, the energy sector generates power and fuels necessary for industrial processes and daily life activities.

6. Materials - Musculoskeletal System: Analogous to the musculoskeletal system's foundation of bones and muscles that support movement and structure, the materials sector encompasses the production of essential resources like metals and raw materials that underpin various industries.

7. Consumer Discretionary - Reproductive System: Just as the reproductive system ensures the continuation of life through the birth of new individuals, the consumer discretionary sector involves new products and services that enhance quality of life, reflecting personal choices and preferences.

8. Industrials - Gastrointestinal System: Similar to the gastrointestinal system's role in processing and distributing nutrients to the body, the industrial sector encompasses manufacturing, production, and distribution processes that create and deliver goods essential for society.

9. Utilities - Urinary System: Analogous to the urinary system's regulation of fluids and electrolytes as well as waste elimination, the utilities sector provides essential services such as water, electricity, and waste management that are crucial for daily living and societal functions.

10. Consumer Staples - Lymphatic System: Just as the lymphatic system helps maintain fluid balance and fights infections in the body, the consumer staples sector offers essential goods like food, beverages, and household items that are consistently in demand regardless of economic conditions.

11. Communications - Endocrine System: Similar to the endocrine system's regulation of hormones to control bodily functions, the communications sector manages the dissemination of information, news, and entertainment that influences societal interactions and behaviors.
